Certification Requirements for Gainful Employment Programs
This USDE announcement reminds institutions of the upcoming deadline for submission to the Department of their “Gainful Employment (GE) Program Transitional Certification” no later than December 31, 2015.
•If your institution had submitted a GE Transitional Certification but your institution was informed that it was unacceptable or incomplete, your institution must resubmit an acceptable and complete Transitional Certification no later than December 31, 2015.
•If your institution has an application currently being processed by the Department that will result in a new Program Participation Agreement (PPA) please contact the Analyst/School Participation Division to determine if a PPA will be generated by December 31, 2015. If it will not, a GE Transitional Certification is required to be submitted by December 31, 2015.
•It is very important that your institution follow the instructions provided in GE Electronic Announcement #54 that is posted to the IFAP website, particularly the information about including with the GE Transitional Certification a copy of your institution’s ECAR or E-App, as applicable. Otherwise, the submission will be rejected as incomplete.
Any PPA that was generated on or after July 1, 2015 includes the GE Certification language. Therefore a GE Transitional Certification is not required, unless you make subsequent program changes.
This is a good time to confirm that all of your GE programs are included on your ECAR and that all information on the ECAR is accurate.
For additional information and where and how to send the certificate, please refer to the GE Electronic Announcement #54and GE Electronic Announcement #66.
If your institution has questions about this requirement, please submit them to GECertification@ed.gov.
Please note: If your institution has submitted the GE Transitional Certification recently and it is currently under review, No further action is required at this time.
